The Cherry Burton Tennis Club is a social, family-friendly club offering members social tennis, club tournaments, competitive league matches and coaching. We have 3 all weather courts and now as well we have the use of the MUGA, so tennis is not just a summer sport for our village.
Our relatively small club participates in both the Hull and Driffield Tennis Leagues for competitive tennis with teams for Mixed, Men’s and Ladies. There’s quite a lot of tennis to fit into the season so we welcome new members to come and join the fun and competitive matches!
We support the local community with coaching throughout the summer period on a pay as you go basis. It is a very successful programme with up to 50 people participating on a weekly basis. With 3 courts and now the MUGA we are well positioned to grow the programme so to include even more participants – of all ages and abilities. We aim to help people improve their game, enjoy the sport and have fun on the courts.
Cherry Burton Tennis Club offers a variety of memberships which run from May to April with new members always welcome. As members there are added benefits such as the fantastic Wimbledon ticket draw, weekly social tennis on a Sunday night and our newly introduced Club Box Tournaments which will run throughout the year. Additionally we offer fun social events and fund raising activities.

Coaching programme summer 2019
We have 2 separate programmes running for the next 6 weeks.
Tennis for Kids is an introductory course for children aged 4-11 years. For £25 (+£4.99 p&p), your child will receive coaching sessions (2-3pm Sunday June 9th – July 14th), along with a racket, set of tennis balls and a personalised t-shirt. To sign up for this programme – please use the link: http://tennisforkids.uk/CherryBurtonTennisClub
(or https://clubspark.lta.org.uk/ and then search for Cherry Burton in the search box.)
Mini Tennis Coaching is our ongoing coaching sessions for children aged 4-9/10 years old which run from 1-2pm on Sundays, also starting June 9th. These sessions are block booked and we offer 2 types of booking – full and flexi blocks. Club members benefit from a discounted price. Attached is the form to sign up- please bring it with you along with payment or confirmation of a BACS transfer. For those children who are 10+ and looking for group coaching, we have options for them and are happy to discuss those with you.
After this June/July programme, we will be hosting the Nature Valley Great British Tennis Weekend on July 21st where we’ll be having a number of activities including a family competition, taster sessions and free play with the ball machine. Watch this space for news nearer the time. Following on from July 21st, we’ll have another Tennis for Kids course along with the Coaching programme carrying on into the autumn and winter.
Currently the club members are in full swing with the 8 ladies, men’s and mixed teams we have in the Hull and Driffield Leagues, so the adult coaching and cardio tennis sessions are on hold for the next few weeks. In the meantime if you’d like some 1:1 coaching or you want to organise a coaching session for a group up to 4 people, please let Pippa or Pete know. They’ll be happy to discuss options on days and timings.
8 lucky club members and their plus 1 are headed to Wimbledon in July – it’s one of the perks of membership of the club – the opportunity to participate in the ticket draw! We welcome new club members at any time of the year, just ask for further information if interested.
If you have any questions or want to discuss coaching options, please let us know.
Happy serving, hitting and winning!
